Organisers of Dover Carnival on Saturday hope people will turn out to support the parade.

The floats will line up at Lewisham Road, River, ready for the procession to set off at 6pm.

Pride of place will go to Miss Dover, 16-year-old Loren Selby.

She and her princesses won two awards at the Sittingbourne fete and fun day.

Mandie Sehmbi, chairman of Dover Carnival Association Ltd, said: "The forecast is for sunny and warm weather so we want to see as many people on the streets of Dover as possible.

"This is a great event to spend with friends and family, so come along and have some fun."

Motorists are being warned there could be long delays as the parade makes it way from River, down Crabble Hill into Buckland Avenue, Barton Road, Frith Road, Maison Dieu Road, Castle Street into the Market Square and then back up through the town centre precinct, past the Town Hall to Bridge Street and finishing at the Maison Dieu car park.

Entries are still being accepted into the parade. Contact 01304 211776 or 07867973029 or visit www.dovercarnival.co.uk
