Dover to Ramsgate rail route back after being shut despite little snow from Beast from the East: Southeastern anouncement

A section of rail closed despite scant snow reopens tomorrow (Friday).

The train operator was criticised by Dover and Deal MP Charlie Elphicke as area had little snow.

The company stressed that the freezing temperatures could still affect services.

But a spokesman tonight said: "We’ve amended our planned timetable for tomorrow, and we wil be running a train service between Dover Priory and Ramsgate.

"This will be an hourly service in each direction, and passengers will be able to change at either Dover Priory or Ramsgate onto high speed services, and trains to other destinations.

"Significant snowfall is forecast for tomorrow across Kent and the South East of England, and we’re advising passengers not to travel if they can avoid it, and to allow extra time for their journeys."

Mr Elphicke said he learned from the company that the service would restart at 7.30pm.

He commented in a Facebook post tonight.

The freezing winds from Siberia have caused havoc in several parts of Kent west of Dover this week.
