Carruthers: joining Fleet 'not good career move'

GRAVESEND & Northfleet have had a club record £10,000 bid for Dover striker Matt Carruthers rejected by the Dr Marten’s League, Premier Division, club.

The Fleet had offered £5,000 down plus a further £5,000 based on appearances.

Dover chairman Mick Kemp disclosed that the offer was below their valuation while the player did not want to leave.

Carruthers underlined his potential two weeks ago when he scored twice and hit a post as Dover trounced the Fleet 3-0 in a Kent Senior Cup tie at Stonebridge Road.

“I am happy at Dover and I don't class making a move to Gravesend as progressive for my career,” Carruthers told Dover’s official website.

“I recently signed a new two-year contract at Dover. If the opportunity arose to play full-time football I would think long and hard about it. I want to confirm that I will not be leaving Dover to play for Gravesend.”
