Dons send Dover out of FA Cup

AFC Wimbledon 2 Dover 0

Dover were dumped out of the FA Cup on Tuesday night by Blue Square South side AFC Wimbledon.

The Dons won the third qualifying round replay at Kingsmeadow with goals from Tony Finn and former Welling and Chatham striker Danny Kedwell.

Whites boss Andy Hessenthaler said: “It was disappointing to lose but they were the better team over the 90 minutes and we’ll take it on the chin.

“We had our opportunity on Saturday as we were better then."

Dover were denied the chance of taking the lead against the Dons when home keeper Andy Little made a double save to deny Sammy Moore and then Lee Browning.

The hosts then struck the opener just before the break and settled the tie when Kedwell struck on 62 minutes.

AFC Wimbledon will now visit Bourne Park to face Maidstone United on October 25 for a place in the first round proper.

Dover: Whitehouse, Fish, Gore, Hill, Ball, Keister (Hughes 65mins), Moore, Hessenthaler, Welford, Collin (Bailey 70mins), Browning (Jones 73mins). Subs not used: Pouton, Roger, Lindley. Attendance: 1,939.
