This year, young learners in East Kent will have more choice after GCSEs, as EKC Group rolls out new T Level qualifications at its Colleges in Ashford, Broadstairs, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and Sheppey.

Launched by the government in 2020, T Levels are backed by employers and include a 45-day industry work placement, enabling young people to gain the skills, experience and knowledge needed to get ahead in their chosen careers.

One T Level qualification is equivalent to three A Levels, enhancing your options for further study, training and employment.

Following the successful introduction of T Levels at its Colleges in Broadstairs, Canterbury, Dover and Folkestone last year, EKC Group has increased the number of T Level routes available across all six of its sites.

From September, young people will be able to take their first steps towards their dream jobs in technology, business, healthcare, accountancy, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, education, and childcare.

The two-year T Level courses are the perfect transition into these industries, as they consist of 80% traditional college education and 20% work placement.

With each student guaranteed a 45-day work placement, T Levels offer an unrivalled ‘foot in the door’ to their chosen career as well as an opportunity to use learned skills and knowledge in a real-world environment.

Whether your ambition is to enter employment, take on an apprenticeship, study at university, or complete additional training, T Levels give you a headstart on your future.

Among the T Level pathways on offer are Education and Childcare - which can lead to assistant teacher jobs and childcare roles - and Management and Administration, a perfect springboard into entrepreneurship and the corporate world.

With the constant demand for staff in the world of healthcare, studying a Health T Level is almost guaranteed to lead to employment straight out of college.

As part of EKC Group’s courses, many offer specialisations which can bolster passionate students’ value in the job market.

For example, students of the Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing T Level can specialise in Mechatronics or Vehicle Installation and Repairs, giving them in-depth knowledge about emerging technological fields.

Meanwhile the on-site Construction course provides specialisations in a range of roles including bricklaying, plastering and carpentry.

T Levels bring classroom and work placement together, giving you the skills and experience employers need.
