A six-week old terrier puppy which was found abandoned outside a veterinary surgery has got a new home.

Staff at the Lady Dane Veterinary Surgery, Graveney Road, Faversham, made the discovery on their way into work last Thursday.

Partner Clifford George found the puppy by a nearby hedge inside an unmarked red plastic box, wrapped inside an old curtain. A small plank of wood was also placed on top, which the animal had managed to dislodge.

The female was looked after by the surgery’s staff until a new home was found for her in Medway on Saturday.

Practice manager Karin Cornock believes the puppy was probably left outside the front door in the early hours of the morning.

“It’s strange, because as long as I’ve been working here, I’ve never seen this happen.

We’re normally able to rehome kittens and puppies if people are no longer able to look after them.”
