Faversham Creek crash driver still on the run weeks after plunge into water

A driver is still on the run nearly two months after plunging into a creek.

Police launched a manhunt following the crash during a police chase in early February.

The black Ford Focus was found submerged in the water in Oare after failing to stop for police earlier that night in Ramsgate.

Officers failed to track down the driver at the time despite coordinating a search with the fire service and coastguard.

The suspect remains undetected seven weeks later with police confirming to Faversham News this week there is "no update" to their inquiries.

The vehicle was involved in a pursuit with police after it failed to stop for a patrol in Nixon Avenue, Ramsgate at around 10.45pm on February 7.

Police started a chase but lost track of the vehicle before it was spotted again in Faversham at 3.33am.

Officers lost sight again until a member of the public called police to report a car had crashed into the creek near Youngboats boat yard.

Police divers were at the scene the following morning recovering evidence and debris from the car left in the water.

The car was pulled from the creek by a crane and loaded on to a recovery truck.
