A FAVERSHAM soldier took time out from training in Cyprus to chat with Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans.

Corporal Spencer Pinch, a soldier with the Second Battalion, Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, will celebrate Christmas with his wife Mandy and their children Jasmine and Mackenzie at home in the Alexander Barracks in Dheklia.

The 33-year-old met Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans last Friday (December 12) when he presented his Drivetime show from the barracks.

The former Abbey School pupil was interviewed live on air and afterwards thanked the radio DJ for visiting the troops and their families.

“It was a great day and has not only helped boost morale of everyone based in Cyprus but also those soldiers that are currently serving on overseas operations over Christmas. We very much hope that Chris and his team can visit us again next year,” he said.
