Faversham Town boss Ray Turner is geared up to making sure his squad peak for the Ryman League Division 1 South play-offs

Ray Turner has established a 10-week battle plan to ensure Faversham Town peak in the week of the Ryman League, Division 1 South play-off final.

Second-placed Town have faltered of late, losing three of their last four games – having won six in a row and lost just once in the 19 games which preceded the poor run.

Leaders Burgess Hill’s dominance has impacted on Turner’s men and the Town manager admitted: “It’s not easy. It can be hard psychologically when you’re in this position.

“It’s not just us, (third-placed) Merstham and (fourth-placed) Folkestone have had some strange results, too. We talked to the players on Tuesday and it’s up to me to put a 10-week plan in place.

"We need to do the obvious things first like secure our place but it’s all going to be geared towards peaking at the end of April. The play-off final is 11 weeks on Saturday and it’s all gearing up to that now. We almost need to have a mini pre-season and build up our intensity again.”

Town welcome East Grinstead Town on Saturday (3pm) but while Dean Grant returns from a one-match ban Wayne Wilson has one more game of his suspension remaining, and Dave Botterill must serve two more.

Jamie Maxted could, however feature, despite being carried off at Corinthian with a suspected broken ankle, after scans showed the injury was merely bruising.
