Air ambulance called to Folkestone after man hit by car seriously injured

Police want to hear from witnesses after a man was hit by a car in Folkestone, leaving him seriously hurt.

Emergency crews including the air ambulance were called to the accident near the Tesco Express store in Foord Road just after 4.40pm yesterday.

The 43-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and the road remained closed for several hours.

The 20-year-old man driving the car, a black Ford Fiesta, was uninjured.

Officers have now launched an appeal for anyone who saw the accident, or the car or pedestrian beforehand, to come forward.

PC Simon Masterson from the serious collision investigation unit said: "We are especially keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the black Fiesta or pedestrian immediately prior to the incident."
