Police and ambulances attend stabbing near Folkestone Central Station

A man is reported to have run into a busy shop "screaming for help" after being stabbed.

Police, rapid response vehicles and ambulances cordoned off a road in Folkestone earlier today after the dramatic scenes.

It is believed that the incident happened near the Co-op in Cheriton Road, close to Folkestone Central station.

Officers cordoned off the area and conducted enquiries, but are now believed to have left.

Eyewitness Jonathan Poole said: "I was shopping when a guy came in screaming for help after he was stabbed presumably outside .

"It was at the Folkestone Central co-op and police and ambulance were quickly in attendance."

A resident, who wished to remain nameless, said: "There were about a dozen cars around the Co-op, Brockman Road and Broad Mead Road.

"I saw police questioning people, searching gardens and knocking on doors."

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 11.55am to a report that a man had been assaulted in Cheriton Road, Folkestone.

"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

"Officers remain at the scene and an investigation is ongoing."

The ambulance service have been contacted for comment.
