Girl,15, seriously hurt in road accident

A 15-year-old Kent girl is in a London hospital with serious head injuries after being struck by a car.

The incident happened at about 4.30pm on Monday in Jemmett Road, Ashford.

The girl, who lives locally, was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital but has since been transferred to Kings Hospital, London. Her condition is described as "stable".

Members of Kent Police's serious crash investigation unit (SCIU) were called to the scene. The road was closed until about 8.30pm.
