Letter bombs: young man still being held

DETECTIVES have been granted more time to question a man in connection with a spate of letter bomb attacks, including one in Kent.

Primary school caretaker Miles Cooper, who is in his 20s, was arrested at his home address in Cambridge early on Monday.

One of the victims, Mike Wingfield, 53, of Craufurd Green, Cheriton, near Folkestone, received cuts to his stomach and fingers and his wife was deafened by the explosion that came after he opened a jiffy bag at his home on Saturday, February 3.

It was addressed to the senior manager of a now defunct security firm Mr Wingfield once ran from that address.

The letter bomb is being investigated alongside a number of other attacks in the last two months. They include ones to companies and organisations in London, Berkshire and Swansea that all have motoring connections.
