Eurotunnel passengers are facing a second day of delays due to hot weather.

Le Shuttle is warning of waits of two-and-a-half hours for check-in and departure.

The firm says 'extreme and prolonged high temperatures' have affected air-conditioning on its carriages and restricted shuttle capacity.

In a statement on its website, it explains: "The prolonged and unprecedented temperatures in the South East of England are affecting the air conditioning on board our shuttles.

"Due to the high level of traffic booked, we are currently unable to check-in any customers arriving more than two hours before their booked crossing time.

"We strongly recommend that you stock up with water and take a comfort break prior to arriving at our Folkestone Terminal."

Tickets for travel today are no longer being sold.

Le Shuttle is asking passengers throughout July and August to check in for booked departures no earlier than two hours and no later than 45 minutes before.
