A man has been charged with attempted murder after a man sustained serious injuries in an early morning attack.

The victim was taken to Darent Valley Hospital with serious head injuries and a woman was treated for minor injuries after they were found in The Overcliffe, Gravesend.

A police spokeswoman said the injuries were caused by a 'sharp instrument' but that the attack did not take place in The Overcliffe.

Police arrested Girdaware Singh Basra, 54, of Beaumont Drive, Northfleet who has later charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent and breaching a restraining order.

He appeared before Medway magistrates on Saturday and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, November 14.

He has been remanded in custody.

The incident happened last Thursday, at about 2am.
