Former Ebbsfleet United chairman Brian Kilcullen has stepped down from the board in protest at the way the club is being run by MyFC.

Mr Kilcullen spoke out last month about difficulties he was experiencing in dealing with the MyFC representatives along with concerns about the club's financial position, and wrote to minority shareholders saying he believes the club's ownership model is not working.

He claimed the administration had breached the terms of the takeover agreement which gave MyFC control and says he and the former directors could re-seize power – but only if someone was prepared to run the club.

However in a statement on Wednesday, Mr Kilcullen said: "Despite my best efforts over a very long period of time to resolve problems in the way I see the club as being run, I feel unable to discharge my duties properly and consider it best that I stand down. "

He said he would remain as nominated representative of the minority shareholders and said he would: "continue to do my best to protect the club’s and their best interests through that role."

Mr Kilcullen said he would advise the minority shareholders not to replace him in the role "until such time I consider they will no longer encounter the difficulties that have forced me to stand down. I sincerely hope these difficulties can be resolved as soon as possible. "

He added: "I have been proud to be a director of the club since 1999 and it has given me many great memories.

"I sincerely thank all of those who have given their support to the club and its different boards of directors over that time."
