Fort in Victory in Gravesend takes people back to the 1940s in a wartime weekend

Crowds of people were whisked back to the 1940s at the weekend.

The wartime event Fort in Victory saw live entertainment, re-enactments and dance groups perform in Fort Gardens, Gravesend.

There were also classic cars, military vehicles and prams on show as people walked around vintage clothes stalls.

Food and drink vendors also fit in with the wartime theme with an afternoon tea pop-up tent and old-style canteen serving hot drinks out of metal mug.

Taking over the bandstand, there were performances by DJ Jivin' Jim Dandy, a Winston Churchill tribute, Adam Hoffman, Miss Franny De Light and Tom Carradine.

They sang songs from the era and invited visitors to come up and join the Medway Lindy Hoppers in a few dance routines.

The tunnels at New Tavern Fort were also opened for visitors as was a pop-up fire station and other information points telling stories from the Second World War.

Fort in Victory is run by Victory Events based in Ramsgate and hold "living history" days throughout the year.

The annual wartime weekend was held on September 24 and 25 from 10am to 5pm.
