Coronavirus Kent: Gravesend doctor tells you how to keep your family safe

A doctor from Gravesend has filmed a video informing people how to keep their families safe if someone has a fever.

Dr Elizabeth Hobbs, an emergency medical consultant, created the 11-minute video to help people take control of their symptoms.

Dr Elizabeth Hobbs talks about managing the symptoms of coronavirus.

Her video has been shared by MP for Gravesham Adam Holloway, who said of the video: "She fervently believes that if we do the right thing when we become ill many of us can reduce our chances of having to be admitted to hospital."

Dr Hobbs has more than 20 years medical experience and works at a teaching hospital in London.

The mother-of-four said: "The aim of the video is education, not information. I hope by the time you have finished the video, you feel empowered.

"If you manage the fever, everything will follow suit. If you don't rest properly, end up paying the price and will unfortunately end up needing oxygen."

Dr Hobbs says the advice given in her video was correct and up-to-date at the time of it being filmed at the end of March, and people should consult their own GP for the best course of action.

Any specific problems should be raised with your doctor and the advice is aimed at the general population, rather than those with underlying health conditions.

Dr Hobbs' video has not been approved by Public Health England. Anyone with health concerns is urged to contact NHS 111.
