Hard luck stories are becoming horribly frequent for Ebbsfleet in their bid to avoid a second relegation in four seasons.

Late goals have cost the Fleet three points in their last two games and Liam Daish’s side have now gone seven Blue Square Bet Premier games without a win.

Possession without penetration has been the story of the season for Fleet. As the struggle for survival intensifies, manager Daish (pictured)admitted he would happily swap the promising performances of recent weeks for league points.

He said: "It’s about results now. We’re in a results game and it’s this part of the season where results mean everything.

"I’d rather the lads not play well and win, rather than what we’re doing now, which is playing fairly well and not getting our rewards. I’d like to swap that around a little bit."

Few games this season have carried greater significance than the visit of struggling Tamworth to Stonebridge Road on Saturday.

The Lambs, who sacked manager Marcus Law on Monday, arrive seven points above Ebbsfleet. Victory for Daish’s side would drag Tamworth right into the dogfight but another defeat would leave the Fleet further adrift of safety.
