They were then put on display in the cake marquee set up on St George’s Lawns at the back of St George’s shopping centre.

The icing on the cake was when they were sold off to the public, with proceeds going to the mayor’s charities and the Stacey Mowle Appeal.

Selling like hot cakes, over £150 was raised from the 50p a cake sale.

The Stacey Mowle Appeal was also bolstered with money from the Gr@nd Raffle which was held on the day for a Jelly Christmas Cake donated by “Candyland Creations” which raised a further £61.

Saturday marked Stacey’s eighth birthday and she was given a cake from Asda’s Jacquii Alexander-Smith.

It featured a photo of her with boyband idols One Direction and Gravesend’s own singer Tamera Foster - taken recently on a visit to the X Factor studios.

Stacey also met up with Great British Bake Off 2011 winner Jo who gave her a signed copy of her book - also the top prize in the cake competition.

Jo then met with her fans to sign copies in the afternoon at the Tourist Information Centre.
