The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Iain Duncan Smith visits Gravesend today.

The politician will be visiting a garage launched by the young people’s charity Catch22.

Auto22 on the Lions Business Park offers servicing and repairs for all makes and models of cars and light vans.

It provides hands-on work experience, work placements, training and apprenticeships to unemployed young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity.

Mr Duncan Smith will visit the garage at 11am.

Auto22’s chairman Nikki King said: “One of my passions is to help and mentor young people, which I’ve been doing for many years through associations with various charities and organisations.

“I was recently involved in the government’s advertising campaign for auto enrolment in company pensions and along with the other company heads was invited to have tea with Iain Duncan Smith.

“I talked to him about Auto22 and my ambition to get more experienced business people involved in mentoring young people.

“He was very interested and readily accepted my invitation to visit Auto 22 in Gravesend to see what we are achieving. We are very excited that he is able to join us this week.”
