Man arrested on suspicion of theft from Asda in Thames Way, Gravesend

A man has been arrested after he was seen leaving a supermarket with items he had reportedly not paid for.

The suspect was challenged by members of staff at Asda, in Thames Way, Gravesend, when he tried to exit the store this morning.

He then put down the items and left the area.

A car linked to the incident was later stopped by police officers from the Kent Roads Policing Unit in Ashford.

The team tweeted that the vehicle had been linked to a "high value theft".

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft and driving without a licence or insurance. He has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
