HBO and Sky drop trailer for new comedy-horror series The Baby filmed at Nell's Cafe in Gravesend

A roadside cafe in Kent is set to feature as part of a new comedy-horror TV series about an unexpected mother and a murderous terror tot.

HBO and Sky released the trailer to the The Baby, an eight-part series starring Michelle de Swarte, this week.

The show has been billed as a "darkly funny, raw examination of motherhood", told from the perspective of a woman who doesn’t want to be one.

Michelle De Swarte, of comedian Katherine Ryan's Netflix series "The Duchess” fame, debuts as 38-year-old Natasha, who is furious that her closest friends are all having babies.

But when she is unexpectedly landed with a tot of her own, her life begins to fall apart.

The baby, described as "controlling, manipulative, but incredibly cute" twists Natasha’s life into a surreal horror show as she discovers the true extent of his deadly nature.

A trailer dropped on Monday and features several shocking scenes, ranging from a baby dropping from the sky, leading police on a chase, and also appearing to go on a murder spree in a playground.

The Baby was created by Siân Robins-Grace and Lucy Gaymer and produced by SISTER, the team behind Sky series "Chernobyl" and BBC's "This is Going to Hurt", a TV adaptation of Adam Kay's junior doctor best seller.

Scenes were shot at Nell's cafe, off Valley Drive, Gravesend and the roadside diner features just 10 seconds in.

The popular cafe was closed for filming last year as several residents noted the iconic sign off the A2 roundabout had been replaced with a huge cookie which read "Crookies cookies".

Cascades Leisure Centre was used as an overflow car park as production crews travelled back and forth from the site.

Sandra Hassan, owner of the cafe, is no stranger to film crews taking over her business at short intervals.

Sky One's Temple, starring Mark Strong, was filmed at the diner and the BBC America drama Killing Eve, starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer was also shot on location.

In April last year Torn singer Natalie Imbruglia was also spotted filming at the cafe for her latest music video "Build it Better".

And it's not just a pit-stop for production crews with stars also visiting for brunch and placing their orders from the specials board.

The Baby is set to premiere on HBO Max on April 24 and on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK later this year.
