The incident happened in Vale Road, Northfleet, close to the junction with Colyer Road and Park Avenue at around 8.25am as the 11-year-old walked to school.

Szymon, who lived at Holmes Court, Fenners Marsh, Gravesend, was involved in a fatal collision with a white Mercedes Sprinter minibus.

An inquest was opened into his death where coroner Roger Hatch heard he died of a head injury.

As of August 2, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) informed police officers that it would not be pursuing any charges.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "A file was submitted to the CPS who have determined it is not in the public interest to pursue charges. Therefore the child will face no further action."

Both families have been informed by officers of the decision.
