People with a passion for our county will be helping visitors make the most of celebrations around the London Olympics after signing up to be a Games Time Kent Greeter.

Jan Warren (pictured), of Downs Road, Istead Rise, is one of several people who have signed up to help welcome people to the county.

She said: “I wanted to be part of the Olympics and I do love Kent, so when I saw the advert for Greeters I knew I had to apply.”

Greeters will be on hand to provide support and advice to people from July 17 to September 9.

They will be positioned along the route of the Torch Relay, including special events, and at key transport hubs such as Dover, Ebbsfleet and Ashford during the Olympics and Paralympics.

Also joining Jan will be Mike and Christine Cavender, from Higham.

Christine said: “We applied to be Greeters because we just love Kent. We want to show people just how wonderful it is and just why they should be visiting.”

There is still time to apply to be a Greeter. Volunteers need to be over 18.

Apply online at www.visitkentbusiness.co.uk/gamestimegreeters or telephone Visit Kent on 01227 812908 for further details and an application form.
