Teenage racer Elsa Rendall Todd from near Gravesend wins youth title at 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland

Elsa Rendall Todd has been celebrating after she became a world champion.

The 15-year-old, from Shorne, near Gravesend, came out on top at this month’s 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, held in Glasgow, Scotland, in the female cruiser 13-16 age group.

She finished ahead of second-placed Madison Thompson, of the United States, and Colombia’s Palomeque Palacios, who was third.

She was also second behind winner Freia Challis - another British rider - in the under-15 girls’ age group.

“Worlds 2023 has been a blast,” she wrote on social media.

“Leaving with a W1 and W2 is a dream, and [I’m] stoked to make my 10th World Final.

“Big thanks to everyone behind me, who I couldn’t do it without.”

Rendall Todd has been BMX racing for more than a decade.
