Ebbsfleet manager Daryl McMahon delighted with midfielder Sam Deering's progress

Sam Deering has raised his game to a higher level in the last month, according to Fleet boss Daryl McMahon.

The midfielder scored Ebbsfleet’s first goal in the win at St Albans last Saturday and has been an ever-increasing influence in their impressive run of nine wins and one draw from 10 games.

“Deering was excellent at St Albans,” said McMahon. “He is playing well at the minute. For the last month or two he has been hitting the levels he should be.

“His commitment and professionalism have got better. I think he had to get used to the environment here.

“He was at Whitehawk before and it’s not the same way that we are here. We try to do things as professionally as we can and he is getting better.”

Deering, who now has seven league goals this season, has played on the right-hand side of a midfield four since returning to the team at the end of January.

Earlier in the campaign he was playing in a central three-man midfield but McMahon says it
doesn’t matter where he lines up.

“Sam is clever enough to play in either role,” said McMahon.

“When you watch him playing out wide he comes in anyway, so he is doing both roles during one game."
