Ebbsfleet United sign former Peterborough United, Hull City, Bradford City and Barnet striker Aaron McLean

Ebbsfleet United have signed former Premier League striker Aaron McLean.

The 32-year-old bolsters a Fleet strikeforce which already includes 19-goal Matt Godden, former Gillingham favourite Danny Kedwell and Charlie Sheringham - son of Teddy.

McLean has just left Barnet of League 2 and he also counts Leyton Orient, Aldershot and Grays Athletic among his former clubs.

He spent the largest chunk of his career at Peterborough United, from whom he joined Hull City in 2011.

McLean represented the Tigers in the Premier League, later joining Ipswich and Birmingham on loan before moving to Bradford City in 2014.

He rejoined Peterborough on loan last season, was released by Bradford in the summer and scored five goals in 22 appearances for Barnet this term before his short-term deal there expired.

Fleet boss Daryl McMahon said: "Following the departure of Adam Cunnington to Bromley I have been looking to bring in another striker to give me attacking options in the remaining 18 games and I am delighted to have persuaded Aaron to drop down two levels.

"He is a bubbly character and has bought into our plans for progressing the club on and off the pitch and he will give us greater competition for places."

Ebbsfleet, six points clear at the top of National League South, don't play this weekend so McLean's debut is likely to come at home to Margate on Saturday, January 23.
