Ebbsfleet's hold on the FA Trophy undergoes its severest test yet when they head to North Wales for their quarter-final clash against Wrexham on Saturday.

Fleet supporters have launched a campaign to get at least 500 fans following the team on the day, with a crowd of around 3,500 expected for the tie.

Boss Liam Daish said: “It’s a big game for me and the players but we are looking forward to it.

“We know it will be tough, any game would be in the last eight of the competition – it was last season.

“But we have our own agenda and want to replicate what we did then.”

Wrexham were relegated from League 2 last season but new boss Dean Saunders has guided them firmly into Blue Square Premier play-off contention, with games in hand on all the teams around them.

Daish said: “They are going for it this year and they are on a good run. They have kept a big squad, run on a league budget, like Oxford did when they came down

“Everything has stayed the same as it was when they were in the league. It’s how they react in the Trophy, it could work in our favour or against us.”
