Fleet in battle of the bog

MANAGER Andy Ford has warned his Gravesend & Northfleet players that they face a real battle in tonight's FA Trophy, third round, replay at Weston-Super-Mare.

Last Tuesday's attempt to replay the tie was postponed owing to a waterlogged pitch and Ford, who hails from nearby Minehead, is expecting it to cut up.

He said: "The pitch is a bog and we'll have to battle and scrap like they will if we're to progress through to the fourth round."

The Fleet threw away a 2-0 lead and were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw when the two sides met at Stonebridge Road on Saturday, January 10.

Tonight's winners will be away to FA Cup giant-killers Telford on Saturday, January 31.
