Injury-hit Fleet lose again

Halifax Town 2 Gravesend & Northfleet 0

GRAVESEND conceded two goals in as many minutes to slip to defeat at Nationwide Conference play-off side Halifax Town on Tuesday night.

A recent run of poor form has seen injury-ravaged Fleet win just one of their last eight matches, and they fell behind six minutes after the break when Ryan Sugden headed in Brain Smikle's cross.

The same player made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute when he smashed home from close range after a corner had fallen at his feet.

Both sides hit the crossbar, while Luke Moore, Greg Young and Andy Drury had chances for the visitors when it was still goalless.

The result leaves Liam Daish's side in 14th place in the Conference table. They face Burton Albion at Stonebridge Road in their last match of the season on Saturday.

Gravesend: Holloway, Skinner, R Smith, J Smith, Glozier, Slatter, Saunders, Bowry, Johnson, Drury, Moore.
Subs Not Used: Keer, Fuller, McKimm, Rawle.
Attendance: 1,680.
