Ebbsfleet manager Dennis Kutrieb has urged his squad to brush up on their small mistakes.

The thin line between success and failure has seen the Fleet come up short in recent weeks, and the Fleet boss knows that minor improvements will see them make big strides in terms of their points tally.

Fleet shipped five goals in the FA Trophy exit at National League Dagenham last weekend, and many of them could have been avoided.

“It concerns me every time we concede a goal,” said Kutrieb. “I hate it but I’m not concerned that it’s a specific weakness.

“It’s strange in football that sometimes it is only small things that we need to do to make it better and succeed.

“But those bits and pieces are very important. I can say they only happen a few times but that’s too many.

“We have to work harder and that for me as a manager is the most important thing, to see during training that they work hard on their mistakes.

“We’ve got a few experienced players but not that many in the squad.”

Dagenham led 3-0 at half-time before goals from Lee Martin and Rakish Bingham at either end of the second half were matched after the break by a quickfire Darren McQueen brace for the hosts.

Reflecting on the loss, Kutrieb said: “It was disappointing as we wanted to see how far we’ve come against a stronger side.

“We started really well until we conceded the first goal, it was a good finish but it was an easy set-piece and the man-marking was not good enough.

“Then we started to go on the back foot and were not as sharp. Sometimes that happens, the confidence was lost after we conceded the first two goals.

“We have to stay sharp and work hard even when you concede one or two goals, you can still win games.

“We told them if we got one goal back we would be in the game and we worked hard to get that goal.

“I started thinking we could come back but then we conceded the fourth and fifth goals and the game was gone.

“If someone had said before the game that we’d score two goals at Dagenham I would have taken that but you can’t concede five goals. When you concede such easy goals then you can’t win games.”
