Ebbsfleet United sign former Nottingham Forest youth player Toby Edser

Attacking midfielder Toby Edser has signed for Ebbsfleet United after a successful trial.

The 23-year-old linked up with the National South side at the start of pre-season and has been a regular during the summer campaign.

Known as “trialist A” over the last few weeks, he has made a positive impact, described by Ebbsfleet as “an intelligent midfielder with play-making abilities.”

He has previously spent the last two seasons at Aldershot Town, joining them after he was released by Nottingham Forest. He progressed through the youth team at the City Ground and into their under-23s, where he captained the side.

He scored for Fleet in a friendly against Punjab United and featured in all of the club’s friendlies after that.

Manager Dennis Kutrieb, speaking to the club website, said: “He’s a good addition for us. He gives us even more to think about because he’s not someone who wants to be here to be in the squad, he wants to start.

“He can dictate games, he’s a good footballer and that’s good for me to see because the competition in every position is outstanding. And that’s how it should be.

“We are very clear what we need and what we want to have here and it has to be someone who can make a difference.”

Ebbsfleet United have a game tonight (Wednesday) away at Corinthian. Kick-off is 7.15pm.
