Man arrested after moped rider filmed along Central Parade, Herne Bay

A suspect has been arrested after a moped rider was filmed smashing a mobile phone from a pensioner's hand.

The incident reportedly happened along Central Parade in Herne Bay at about 11am on July 8 when the witness was trying to record the rider's actions, prompting a police manhunt.

Inquiries to identify the person responsible were carried out.

On Tuesday, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted criminal damage, taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, and possession of cannabis.

He was later arrested again for causing criminal damage to a custody cell.

The man was interviewed and released on bail with conditions, pending further enquiries.
