STAFF from a Maidstone bank swapped their documents for shovels when they spent a day carrying out a 'Ground Force' style garden makeover for a charity.

Members of the small business team from the High Street branch of Barclays undertook the challenge at the residential house run by United Response in John Street, Maidstone, on Tuesday.

The work was the result of a national partnership between the national learning disability and mental health charity and Barclays to promote awareness and open up new opportunities for disabled people.

The link has seen Barclays Small Business teams across the country carry out various 'Ground Force' and 'Changing Rooms' type transformations at United Response properties.

The Maidstone volunteers cleared the front garden of the house in preparation for a team of landscapers who will now create a sensory garden where residents can sit in safety, screened from the road outside.
