Development plans on show

AMBITIOUS plans to redevelop the former Rowcroft and Templer Barracks sites in Ashford will be revealed at a public exhibition in Godinton Village Hall on November 13, between 4.30p and 9pm.

The exhibition has been organised by developers George Wimpey and Westbury Homes and the council to give local residents the opportunity to view and comment on the plans.

The proposal is for a mix of residential, commercial, education and recreation uses. Key elements include 1,250 houses and apartments of various sizes, a business hub and workshop/starter units, a linear public park with walking and cycling routes, ecological areas, seating and play facilities.

There will; also be a district centre with shops, doctors, dentists and pharmacy, health and fitness centre, nursery school, cafes, restaurants and bars.

There will also be a new primary school and community centre, floodlit football pitches changing rooms and car parking. A new shopping and business centre will be built at the nearby Godinton Park and a dedicated bus service provided.
