EUROTUNNEL has appointed John Chapman as Commercial Director, Eurotunnel Freight Solutions.

Eurotunnel Freight Solutions is a new initiative by Eurotunnel focussed on developing rail freight between the UK and the Continent. It does not include the Eurotunnel Truck Shuttle business, whose Commercial Director is Lawrence Strover.

John joins from the UK Strategic Rail Authority where he currently holds the position of Assistant Director, Head of Freight Market Development responsible for increasing rail freight within and to the UK from the Continent.

Before this he was Deputy Director General of the Road Haulage Association in the UK, looking after the requirements of the road haulage industry in the UK and Northern Ireland.

Bill Dix, Managing Director Eurotunnel Solutions, said, "John's experience in the freight sector will greatly contribute to the success of Eurotunnel Freight Solutions".

John will take up his new duties on June 30.
