INWARD investment agency Locate in Kent told one of the world’s largest commercial property events that Kent was the best UK location for international business.

The CoreNet Global Summit, opened by former American Vice President Al Gore, brought together 3,000 of the most influential corporate property professionals who have a combined responsibility for over $1.2 trillion assets worldwide.

Paul Wookey, Locate in Kent’s chief executive, and Peter Symons, director of business development, spent three days at the summit the potential Kent and Medway can offer to overseas investors. They also met senior representatives of companies seeking new premises and new operations in Europe.

Mr Wookey said: "Last year, Locate in Kent attracted more than £60m of US, European and Asian investment into our area – this represents nearly three-quarters of all investment in Kent and Medway during the period.

“This is a summit of global significance for the commercial property industry and an excellent opportunity for us to target foreign investment.”

"We are extremely confident that our core messages are reaching home with these international professionals.

“With our unique proximity to the business centres of London, Brussels and Paris, our ever-improving transport infrastructure, our relatively low industrial and commercial property costs, and salaries that are 32 per cent lower than in London, Kent and Medway is now a very attractive and viable option for businesses of all types."
