PFIZER Social Club has been named Club of the Year at a national awards ceremony.

Comedian Stan Boardman presented the trophy at The Club Mirror Magazine National Awards 2005, held at York’s National Railway Museum.

PSC beat off 800 other entries from sports and social clubs across the country.

It also won Family Club of Year, a double celebration for the club’s administration team, who attended the awards ceremony.

In the search for the nation’s top sports and social clubs, finalists were judged on their range of facilities, quality of service and all-round performance.

Judges were impressed with PSC’s entertainment programme, sports facilities and support for the community. The club’s work with disabled sportsmen and women, and the recent bar and restaurant refurbishment and conference facilities were also recognised by the judging panel.

Nigel Cartwright, Pfizer’s health and promotion manager, said: "The club is honoured and delighted and is very proud to be recognised as the best in its class across the industry. To be awarded such a high accolade is a fantastic achievement for the whole PSC team."
