Women constantly change over the course of their monthly cycles and with hormonal changes over their reproductive lives.

Each stage can give rise to different health issues and needs from ‘period problems’ to contraception and sexual health needs to post childbirth issues and the menopause.

But it’s not just about medical experts.

Being prepared - and even taking notes about symptoms and concerns ahead of a GP visit - can also help get to the root of a problem.

“We know that health concerns can be very worrying,” added Dr Ball.

“We aim to give prompt advice and further assessment to reassure or identify any issues early on to allow the best outcome.

“It is worth spending a few minutes to note down your concerns and questions in advance of your appointment to ensure these are fully covered.”

Clinics like Bella Vou are seeing a surge in appointments as a growing number of patients are turning to private treatment to beat rationing and delays at the cash-strapped NHS.

Around 3,200 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year in the UK, with almost 900 succumbing to the disease.

Medical experts say many people underestimate the vital role of cervical screening when it comes to cancer protection.

While screening process itself does not test for cancer of the cervix, it can detect and remove those harmful cells which in turn can stop that type of cancer from forming.

Bella Vou also aims to safeguard clients by offering them services that are quick and convenient without lengthy waits that can occur at local GP surgeries.

Another mission at Bella Vou is to make subjects surrounding women’s health less of a taboo.
