Leap year’s bonus day could be just the right moment to go for Kent’s most prestigious business gong – but there is still plenty of time to do it beyond February 29.

The deadline for the 2012 Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEiBA) has been extended to 5pm on Friday, March 16.

Staged and produced by Kent County Council and the KM Group, the fourth annual awards are backed by big name sponsors to reward excellence across the county.

Bosses endorsed the fourth annual awards at a special Kent Institute of Directors lunch at The Spa Hotel, Tunbridge Wells, on Friday.

Michael Martin, director of Carousel Logistics, the 2012 KEiBA Employer of the Year, and a finalist in the Customer Service and Commitment category, told a 70-strong audience that the awards had brought more than recognition and a trophy.

"We have seen increased sales growth, against the backdrop of a downward industry trend, whilst staff retention and satisfaction is at an all time high. I would encourage anyone thinking of entering KEIBA to think twice about not doing it."

David Philpott, chairman of Kent IoD, added that the awards were a great opportunity to "SHOUT" about the business.

"This event was a wonderful chance to hear first hand the real difference that winning a KEiBA can make. It was inspiring and shows why we should not be modest about our achievements.

"These awards are about recognising the best of the best and that accolade is one that cannot fail to boost any business."

The 2012 presentation gala will be held at Priestfield, Gillingham, on June 28.
