FORMER High Sheriff and new chairman of the Kent Tourism Alliance (KTA) Amanda Cottrell will be joining the Queen’s state visit to America.

Travelling with the Queen and Prince Philip as they attend America's 400th birthday celebrations in Virginia, Mrs Cottrell is representing the county and its tourism industry at the highest levels.

During the Royal tour, Mrs Cottrell will meet with the Governor of Virginia and other state heads including the Bishop of Virginia.

She will then lead Kent's role in America's official anniversary celebrations.

Mrs Cottrell said: "Not only is it a great privilege to be in the presence of the Royal party on this important occasion, but it is also an incredible opportunity to represent Kent and share our beautiful county with an international audience."
