Wife barred from directorships

A WIFE who, as a fellow director, allowed her husband to be a director while still an undischarged bankrupt, has been banned from holding directorships or taking any part in company management for three years.

Janet Barber, of West Way, Pembury, and her husband Colin, ran Morse Management Services Limited, of The Studio, Hawley Manor, Hawley Road, Dartford, which went into voluntary liquidation on February 7 last year owing more than £260,000.

Between April 1996 to July 2000 Morse accumulated Inland Revenue debts of £144,884.43 in respect of pay-as-you-earn and national insurance contributions.

The Insolvency Service is still to decide the penalty to be levied on Mr Barber. The voluntary undertaking by his wife will enable her to avoid a court appearance.
