The appropriately named Bank Da Lot did exactly that last weekend as the dog won a bottom grade S8 race over 540 metres in a decent time of 35.09 seconds.

As they say, the only way is up and the dog will now find himself in stronger company at S7 level next time.

Given that other race winners recorded times of 35.18 and 35.02 on the same card at S6 and S7 levels respectively, you would have to think that the dog will be good enough in his forthcoming race if reproducing a comparable time again, the signs are positive and he will be a good value bet on this evidence.

Unlike the former, connections of Haventanotion may be having second thoughts about the name they chose for their greyhound.

The Arun Green dog has won two from two this month at A8 and A7 levels and looks in tip-top form right now as a result.

If you go back on his

formbook to last summer, you will see that he is a past winner of races in grade A3 before an injury which kept him off the racing strength between September and this January.

These last two races indicate that he is on his way back to where he should be on the card and there must be more wins to be had with him over the coming weeks.

Having tipped Malachys Gold last week, I was disappointed to see the dog finish second on Saturday evening’s card especially having led early

on. No matter, this was a sound effort and he was simply beaten by one too good on the night in the shape of Cals Lonely. My selection was unlucky to be bumped at the second last bend when challenging and I still believe the dog is good for further support.

Credit where due also to Cals Lonely who will now race in top grade A1. I am not sure that he can win at that level but wait for him to drop back to an A2 and he may well score again.

Take note also of Fawkham Vieri trained by Barry O’Sullivan who made it a winning debut during the week.

This puppy was resolute given his lack of experience and looks a decent little prospect.
