The Gills will play Charlton at the London club’s Sparrow’s Lane training ground in a behind-closed-doors encounter.

A number of senior Gillingham players are expected to make the trip, including Lance Cronin, Mark Bentley, Luke Rooney, Andy White and Barcham (pictured).

Barcham is one player in particular the Gills management team will be keen to get minutes under his belt.

“He is rusty because he has been out for a while,” said assistant manager Ian Hendon.

“He will probably get a run out, at least half a game, maybe an hour. It’s just a matter of getting him a little sharper, getting him back to full fitness and him flying up and down the wing.”

Defender Simon King is also likely to feature as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Also out to impress will be a handful of second year scholars who are aiming to win pro deals.

“It’s an important game for everyone,” Hendon added.
