Manager Andy Hessenthaler is awaiting news from the Gillingham physio on a number of his walking wounded.

Absent at the weekend were regular starters Jack Payne and Danny Jackman (pictured), as both picked up injuries in the week leading up to Saturday’s game.

Jackman suffered a groin injury and Payne a hamstring tweak. Hessenthaler is also now waiting on news of Gavin Tomlin, after he limped off injured at the weekend.

Charlie Lee is close to returning following an ankle injury, while Curtis Weston – missing since the end of February – could also be back in contention.

Goalkeeper Ross Flitney is also back training and is closing in on a return for selection.

"It has just been one of those years," sighed the Gills boss. "Hopefully next season, whatever happens now for the next three games, we can have a bit of luck.

"We could see Charlie back and hopefully Jackman is not too bad. We might have a few faces back and Curtis Weston even maybe.

"We have done stats on players and it will be interesting to see how many reach that 40-game mark this season (in the league), maybe one and three over 30.

"That tells a story that it has been a rough one with injuries. That’s been our downfall at times as we haven’t had any consistency in picking the team."
