Andy Hessenthaler looking to pile the pressure on Gillingham's League 2 promotion rivals

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler is hoping his side can deliver a points bonanza in the coming weeks to ramp up the pressure on their promotion rivals.

The Gills finished February unbeaten but were held to five draws in those six games as they faced many of League 2’s top sides.

Hessenthaler takes his side to lowly Aldershot on Tuesday and with a number of games against lower-placed sides on the horizon he’s hoping for a points boost.

Hessenthaler said: "We have played all of the sides that are up there and we’ve now got two months of games where we are more than capable of getting a lot of points.

"We are still seventh and in a play-off spot and it’s really positive.

"We’ve got the bit between our teeth and we feel as if we are not going to lose many games, if any.

"There are 13 games to go and at the moment, with the way we are going, there is no reason why we can’t go through the next 13 games without losing. If we did that it would be a phenomenal achievement.

"There is a big belief that we can now turn the draws into wins. If we can have a run of wins then we will be right in there."
