CARING and dedicated people will be honoured at the Pride of Medway awards night being staged on Friday.

The young and elderly who have been nominated will hear the stories that have led them to be thought of by others.

Each of those named in the 10 categories will be at Rochester's Corn Exchange to receive a certificate from the Mayor of Medway, Nick Bowler.

The awards were launched four years ago and are sponsored by the University of Kent at Medway and supported by Medway Council and the Medway Messenger newspaper.

A judging panel will consider each of the nominees and a shortlist will be drawn up. Those on this shortlist will be invited to a Gala Night in February. One winner will be announced and each of those nominated will receive a special presentation trophy.

The winner will receive a Sam Holland statuette worth around £600.00
