Baby in bath tragedy

A 14-month-old baby boy is believed to have drowned in the bath at his home at Chattenden, near Rochester.

The tragedy happened in a flat at Lodge Hill Lane. The emergency services, including paramedics, were called to the property at about 8pm on Thursday, December 23.

A nearby resident who didn't want to be named said: "The police turned up and cordoned of the block of flats. Officers were in the flat for quite some time that night and it wasn't until the next day did we find out a baby had died.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "I can confirm we were in attendance, but there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death."

A post-mortem has been carried out on the child, but no more information about the death will be release by Medway's coroner until later this month.
