Singer-songwriter Ben Mills from Broadstairs showed his X Factor talent with a live on-air session at kmfm for Thanet.

He joined breakfast show presenter Johnny Lewis for a chat about his appearance as Aladdin in panto at Margate Winter Gardens in January.

And it didn’t take much prompting for the former television talent show finalist to get out his trusty guitar and sing live to listeners.

Accompanied by Steve Higgs on guitar and backing vocals, Ben performed his song Freedom, and then recorded a festive song in our studio for later broadcast.

He said: "We have had a ball visiting the radio and meeting the guys at the station and at the Thanet Extra newspaper."

Before he left Ben had one Extra task to perform - he was asked to officially switch on the Thanet Extra office Christmas tree lights. It may not be switching on the Margate illuminations with Bob Geldof, but he was happy to do the honours.
